About the game
Ballistic.exe is a shooting simulator with innovative mechanics, focused on hyper-realistic ballistics, weapon manipulation and customization, all set in a retro, Sovietcore enigmatic software.
Its release is planned for 2026 on Steam, GOG, and Itch.io, with an estimated price of $20 and a playtime of several dozen hours. It is developed by Gabriel de Laubier, a solo developer in France, under the name Tic Tac Toe Digital.
Gameplay mechanics
Ballistic.exe takes place within a fictional Soviet program from the 1980s. Players are invited to test various weapons on behalf of characters with obscure motivations. To achieve their objectives, they will:
Customize their weapons with unparalleled depth, with practically every part of every weapon being customizable.
Fully manipulate the weapon: On the shooting range, players will need to engage the weapon's safety, action the bolt, manually load magazines, adjust sights, and much more.
Use a unique aiming system: Aiming is done on two axes, allowing players to move the rear and front of the weapon independently.
Master ballistics that simulate wind, humidity, temperature, the Coriolis effect, the Magnus effect, and more to execute long-range shots.
As players progress, they will also uncover more about the origins of the software, interact with numerous characters, and perhaps solve the mysteries of the program’s origins.
Development
Ballistic.exe is being developed in Paris by Gabriel de Laubier.
He began his gamedev career at the Monochrome studio, where he was in particular responsible for the game design and programming of Tandem: A Tale of Shadows.
He left the studio in 2023 to join Kylotonn, where he is now a Senior Technical Artist.
The development of Ballistic.exe began in 2023 during his personal time. In January 2025, a trailer announcing the game unexpectedly skyrocketed, garnering over 300,000 views in two months. Encouraged by this success and the community's enthusiasm, development accelerated, with a release date planned for 2026.
